Merseyside is set to welcome the North West Resources Forum to The Blue Base in Liverpool on Tuesday 1 October – a free-to-attend networking and knowledge-sharing event for professionals across the waste and recycling sector.

Following a successful launch event in April at the Renew Hub in Manchester, which welcomed over 100 attendees, the Forum is already proving to be a must-attend for organisations across the region. With a packed agenda and a strong focus on collaboration, it’s quickly becoming a key fixture for those working in or around resource management in the North West.

Something for every business involved in recycling

Run by Genee Consulting Ltd – an environmental consultancy with deep roots in both the North East and North West – the Forum is modelled on the long-standing North East Recycling Forum (NERF), which has been connecting professionals and showcasing innovation for over 35 years.

Designed to support local authority waste officers, private businesses, public sector waste managers, and third sector organisations, the event offers something for everyone. Alongside expert speakers and updates on upcoming regulatory changes, the Liverpool Forum will showcase innovation and fresh perspectives from across the sector. SUEZ will share insights into the applications of AI in waste management, while Keep Britain Tidy will present their new guide aimed at improving public understanding of waste prevention.

Working with Everton Football Club and Andy’s Man Club

Delegates will also hear from OCS, who will draw on their work with Everton Football Club to explore how waste can be effectively managed in a sports setting. Beyond the technical agenda, the Forum will also highlight the importance of wellbeing, with Andy’s Man Club tackling the stigma around men’s mental health and discussing how colleagues can support one another in what remains a heavily male-dominated industry.

Jo Holmes, Managing Director for Genee Consulting and NWRF Chair said:

This is a pivotal moment for the waste and recycling sector, and we want to provide a space where professionals can stay up to date and work together to drive positive change.

The North West Resources Forum is an inclusive, informative, and engaging event – and we’re thrilled to bring it to Merseyside.

Calling on Merseyside businesses to get involved

The organisers are particularly keen to encourage more Merseyside-based businesses and organisations to get involved. Hosting the event in Liverpool is a fantastic opportunity for local companies and councils to engage with their peers and play an active role in shaping the future of waste and recycling in the region.

The event is free to attend and open to all with an interest in waste and recycling. Places can be booked via Eventbrite, or the NWRF website at www.nwrf.org.uk/nwrf-meeting-oct25
