As the highly anticipated Eurovision event takes place in Liverpool this week, Power Collective CIC, founded by honorary Navy captain, Simone Roche MBE, is hosting a special networking session on Friday 12 May onboard her affiliate warship, in support of United for Ukraine.
The two-hour event will take place just a stone’s throw from the Eurovision Village at Liverpool Cruise Terminal and welcomes United For Ukraine key workers and displaced Ukrainian nationals looking to find employment and education in the UK. Mentors from Power Collective CIC’s sister organisation, Northern Power Women, will provide attendees with free support and employment advice representing some of the biggest employers in the North.
“We are thrilled to be supporting the United for Ukraine initiative and bringing together our community of inclusive leaders to create social capital for those who have fled the conflict in their home country. This event will provide a unique opportunity for Ukrainian nationals in Liverpool to make connections and build relationships that will support them in their new lives here.”
Simone Roche MBE (Honorary Navy Captain and CEO of Northern Power Women and Power Collective)
“We’re hugely grateful for all the support the Power Up Collective and Northern Power Women have offered to our United for Ukraine initiative over the past year. Without their help, and the support of many other organisations within the United for Ukraine coalition, we wouldn’t have been able to achieve as much as we have. It proves that businesses across the North of England have a big heart and we’re so thankful for everything they’ve done.
“The Eurovision Song Contest coming to Liverpool is such a huge event for the North of England, and also for the Ukrainian community here in the UK. We hope that everyone who attends the Power Up Live event on HMS Mersey will feel they’re at the heart of the Eurovision festival in Liverpool and come away having learnt a bit more about some of the amazing work that we’ve been able to achieve through United for Ukraine – and how they can help us make it even better.”
Tim Jeffrey (Partnership & Integration Manager at the Growth Company)
Prior to Friday’s event, Power Collective are opening proceedings on HMS Mersey on Thursday 11 May by hosting an additional mentoring event, dubbed a Power Up, which regularly takes place online for early career professionals and students. This live event will bring together LJMU Engineering students and Royal Navy cadets onboard HMS Mersey to also benefit from employment advice and guidance from the Northern Power Women mentor community.
Both events will allow attendees to enjoy a tour of the ship while building crucial local connections to support them in the next steps toward their futures. To find out more about the work that both Power Collective CIC and Northern Power Women do, visit their website.
