Cuts to Education and Social Care: who needs brains or well-being anyway?
In a move that surely won’t have catastrophic consequences, Earth leaders have decided that cutting staff in education and social care is the best way forward. Because who needs teachers when you can just Google things? Who needs social workers when communities can just sort themselves out? And if vulnerable people fall through the cracks, well, those are just cost-saving cracks now.
At this point, we Martians are wondering if Earth’s governments are deliberately trying to manufacture a dystopian future, or if they’re just winging it and hoping no one notices. Either way, good luck when the next generation grows up to be an uneducated, emotionally stunted populace incapable of running a functioning society.
Oh, wait – maybe that’s the plan.
Tesla stock tanking faster than a SpaceX rocket
Tesla’s stock is dropping like a malfunctioning Starship prototype, and in an unexpected show of loyalty (or desperation), Donald Trump has decided to step in. He’s reportedly purchased a Tesla, because nothing says economic confidence like the world’s most infamous grifter publicly trying to prop up your failing stock.
Even better, Trump has decided to personally get into the referral business, handing out links that give buyers a $1,000 discount on their brand-new Tesla. Because clearly, he fancies himself a car salesman now. Rumour has it he’s already poured concrete over the Rose Garden so he has a ready-made forecourt.
Conflict of interest? What’s that? Ethics violations? Never heard of them. If only Trump had driven his Tesla rather than used it as a political pawn, he might have discovered that full self-driving still doesn’t work.
Elon claims Ukraine’s frontline would collapse without him – and Rubio forgets how maps work
Elon Mars, never one to miss an opportunity for self-aggrandisement, recently declared that if he were to switch off Starlink, Ukraine’s entire frontline would collapse. Because, as we all know, there’s nothing quite like subtle threats of strategic sabotage from a man whose primary qualification is making cars that randomly burst into flames.
Reactions were swift and, unsurprisingly, not positive. Poland’s foreign minister pointed out that they, along with other allies, pay for Ukraine’s Starlink access, raising further questions about why Elon acts as though he’s single-handedly funding the war effort.
Enter Marco Rubio, who decided to one-up Elon in the “saying ridiculous things” contest by insisting that Poland should be grateful to Elon because, without Starlink, Russia would already be on their border. Which is a fascinating take – because Russia already shares a border with Poland. Perhaps someone should introduce Rubio to a world map before he starts making claims about Canada’s precarious position between France and Peru.
We note that Elon Mars seems to enjoy inserting himself into geopolitical crises like a child demanding attention at a dinner party. His erratic involvement, combined with his apparent need for constant validation, has led us to conclude that perhaps critical military infrastructure shouldn’t be dependent on the whims of an over-caffeinated Twitter addict.
Elon Mars loses £115 billion – and still has more money than sense
In news that should technically be catastrophic but somehow isn’t, Elon Mars’ net worth has plummeted by a staggering £115 billion. Don’t worry, though – he still has plenty left to keep buying social media sites, producing exploding rockets, and making deeply questionable political statements.
Martians remain fascinated by Earth’s billionaire class. No other species could hemorrhage that much money and still be taken seriously as a genius businessman. If we lost that amount, we’d start questioning whether we should be in charge of anything at all.
Boycotting Tesla is illegal now?
Apparently, Trump believes that refusing to buy Teslas is against the law. Yes, you read that correctly. In his latest legal brainwave, he has suggested that boycotting Elon’s company is illegal.
If that’s the case, what’s next? Mandatory Cybertruck ownership? Fines for not subscribing to X/Twitter? A government order forcing everyone to refer to Elon as “Supreme Technoking of Mars”?
Somewhere, even the most loyal Trump supporters must be thinking: Wait a minute…
Tariff U-Turns: the economic hokey cokey
First, Trump wanted tariffs. Then he didn’t. Then he did again. Now he’s… reversing some of them? Watching his economic policy unfold is like trying to follow a toddler’s explanation of their favourite cartoon – confusing, contradictory, and mostly nonsensical.
Tariffs are, of course, a great way to start trade wars and drive up prices for the very people who vote for you. But who cares about actual consequences when you can just blame it all on Joe Biden later?
Trump not ruling out a recession
A true economic mastermind, Trump has refused to rule out a recession – despite the fact that his policies seem designed to cause one. Between the tariff chaos, threats to Starlink, Tesla’s stock crash, and ongoing government cuts, it’s almost as if he wants the economy to nosedive.
Has he been taking lessons from Liz Truss? Because this has big lettuce energy all over it.
Elon Mars’ bedside table: A still life in poor life choices
In the latest installment of Things That Make You Question Everything, Elon Mars graced the world with a photo of his bedside table. Now, one might expect the personal space of the world’s richest overgrown teenager to include a few books, maybe a notepad, or even a single item that suggests the presence of basic adulting. Instead, the world was treated to a dystopian still life featuring:
- Four open cans of decaf Diet Coke – Because nothing screams high-octane innovation like a man pounding caffeine-free soda at all hours.
- A bottle of water – Presumably for when he realises that chugging aspartame isn’t actually hydrating.
- Two handguns – Because what every billionaire needs next to their bed is a set of firearms, just in case a hostile takeover attempt spills over into his bedroom.
The composition of this masterpiece raises more questions than answers. Is he dual-wielding pistols between sips of the saddest drink imaginable? Does he crack open a fresh Diet Coke every time he wakes up in a panic over Tesla’s stock price? And, most importantly, who drinks decaf Diet Coke willingly?
The real tragedy here? Not a single coaster in sight. Perhaps the biggest shock of all is that Elon – self-proclaimed genius of efficiency – doesn’t seem to know how to finish a single can before opening another one.
RFK Jr: fast food’s newest spokesman?
Because nothing screams “public health expert” like promoting fast food, RFK Jr. has now taken to promoting a popular fast-food chain. Yes, the same man who loves spreading vaccine misinformation has decided to lend his credibility (or lack thereof) to a meal best described as a heart attack in a box.
You have to admire the consistency – his approach to health has always been deeply questionable. What’s next? Endorsing cigarette brands? Announcing a partnership with Big Sugar? Promoting the idea that exercise is overrated?
At this point, we wouldn’t put anything past him.
Until next week…
As another week of Earth’s Follies comes to an end, we can only wonder what fresh chaos awaits us. Will Trump claim that gravity is a deep-state conspiracy? Will Elon challenge Jeff Bezos to a duel over Mars – shudder? Will RFK Jr. release a cookbook filled with anti-science nutritional advice?
Whatever happens, we’ll be watching from the Red Planet with popcorn in hand (assuming that, too, isn’t banned for being “too woke”). Stay tuned for next week’s edition of Earth’s Most Spectacular Self-Destruction.
