Restore Britain announced Marlon Scott West as their candidate. What are he and Restore Britain planning for Greater Manchester? We take a look at the manifesto.

We aim to update this page when new manifesto points come to our attention.

Based on an interview with Local Democracy Reporter Declan Carey unless otherwise noted.

On 17 June Mr West was suspended by the Nursing and Midwifery Council for social media posts he made. Restore Britain stands by him.

Education

No specific plans published to date.

Environment

Building on brown fields rather than green fields.

Flooding or potholes

No specific plans published to date.

High Street regeneration

West will launch a high street crime taskforce to crack down on the vape shops and Turkish barbers plaguing Greater Manchester. He also promises to clear Piccadilly Gardens out .

He promises to back pubs and the night-time economy by tackling crime, red tape and business rates, and to stop obsessing over central Manchester and focus on other outlying boroughs, as well as support new businesses across every borough and create new opportunities for young people

Housing

Rather than focusing solely on building new homes, West believes more should be done to bring empty properties back into use. He aims to review housing targets and put brownfield land and infrastructure first

Migration

West mentioned Restore Britain’’s mass deportation plans.

West and Restore are “promising” a ‘hostile environment’ for illegal migrants across Greater Manchester. Make life so uncomfortable and unsustainable for illegal migrants that they simply deport themselves. No work, no routine healthcare, no housing, no luxury hotels, no benefits. Nothing.

Marlon West will move to end ALL foreign language translation provided by authorities under his control.

If halal meat is to be served, it needs be CLEARLY labelled, and be just one option with normal meat provided too. That is what Restore Britain will fight for.

Transport

West argues that roads in parts of the city region are already at a standstill and fears further housebuilding on green belt land will only make the problem worse. He says too many journeys between the boroughs remain slow and unreliable, pointing to routes such as Tameside to Stockport. He also wants greater scrutiny of whether the Bee Network is delivering what it promised.

West will push for these rules on public transport: Keep shoes off the seats, be respectful to other passengers and use your headphones (he does not want to hear aggressive rap music blaring out, or private conversations (very often in foreign languages)

Policing and public safety

  • West wants a thorough assessment of all Greater Manchester Police. And it’s not just, not just about grooming gangs, it’s Piccadilly Gardens, anti-social behaviour. The behaviour of the police officers and their attitude of the police officers towards the public.
  • He promises visible policing back on the streets and cracking down on antisocial behaviour, and to hold a women’s safety summit in every area of Greater Manchester, and to set up GMCA community hubs in every borough and keep residents informed.
  • He has published a full policing plan, together with Restore Britain
  • Mr West promises to clear out Piccadilly Gardens.

Social care or SEND

No specific plans published to date.

Other subjects

Marlon West, as Greater Manchester mayor, will ensure that all schools, hospitals and whatever else are CLEARLY labelling halal meat.

How will any changes or plans be financed?

No specific plans published to date.
