Burnley’s annual Health Mela event is set to return to the University of Lancashire’s Burnley Campus, bringing free health and wellness advice to the town. The free event takes place at Victoria Mill from 11am to 3pm on Saturday 16 May
Free health checks for everyone
The family-friendly Burnley Health Mela will offer free health MOT checks, advice and activities for all ages.
Visitors will be able to have blood tests, access information on health topics and even participate in activities like Tai Chi, yoga and reiki.
As a collaboration between the University of Lancashire and the National Forum of Health and Wellbeing (NFHW), which has held nearly 70 health melas and is proudly celebrating its silver jubilee this year, the event is run by volunteers, non-profit organisations and students and staff who will offer services to the attendees.
Professor Romesh Gupta, Chair for the NFHW and Honorary Professor at the University of Lancashire said:
Promoting health and wellbeing is our main goal, and we’re honoured to be able to hold another Health Mela for the people of Burnley.
This year’s event will offer a wide variety of activities for all the family to join in with. We know the children love to get hands on with teddy bear health checks while others like to take advantage of the free health screening services.
A flagship event for Lancashire University
The Health Mela has hosted hundreds of guests in previous years and this year’s event will take place in the University’s Victoria Mill, on Trafalgar Street. It takes place between 11am and 3pm on Saturday 16 May with free parking for all visitors and the stallholders (subject to availability).

The Burnley Health Mela is one of our flagship events and all the University staff, students and CCG voluntary members are looking forward to taking part again throughout the day.
