Best-selling author and paddleboard guru, Jo Moseley, will lead the sessions based at the Burn How Garden House Hotel from May 2-4. They are open to novices as well as those who have already tried paddleboarding but would like to gain more confidence.

Jo will be working with the Fell Foot-based Stoked Watersports who will provide all the necessary equipment, including wetsuits if necessary. Accommodation, including breakfast, is at the Burn How Hotel.
Jo Moseley is a single mum of two grown-up sons living on the Yorkshire coast. She is the author of two bestselling books about beautiful places to paddleboard, with award winning Vertebrate Publishing: Stand Up Paddleboarding in Great Britain (2022) and Stand Up Paddleboarding in the Lake District (2024).

Paddleboarding: How it All Began
She began paddleboarding in Derwentwater in the Lake District on 24 September 2016 as a way to heal her injured knee. The minute she stood up she said she felt like a warrior, not a worrier, and she fell in love with Stand Up Paddleboarding that day. It has, Jo says, transformed her life.
In 2019, then aged 54, Jo became the first woman to SUP 162 miles coast to coast from Liverpool to Goole along the canal, picking up litter and fundraising for a mental health surf charity. A film about her adventure called Brave Enough – A Journey Home to Joy by award winning Frit Tam of Frit Films has been screened at prestigious film festivals, including Shextreme, Kendal Mountain Festival, and Keswick Mountain Festival.
A keen cold-water swimmer and hiker, Jo is an Ordnance Survey champion, wellbeing speaker and ambassador for the Seaful Charity. She has been featured in many magazines and newspapers and on TV and radio sharing.
She is realising a childhood dream learning to skateboard, does a headstand a day, and loves to travel in her van called Summer.
Now 60, Jo is committed to encouraging other women to age adventurously, find joy in the outdoors and, where possible, do a beach clean or litter pick whilst they are there. “We can’t change the world”, she often says, “but we can change the little bit around us.”
