Southport Air Show is returning to Sefton’s coast for another weekend of highflying aerial displays. The annual event hosts a range of activities for all ages and this year is no different with a stacked line-up of spectacular sights and family-fun.

As well as the usual flying acrobatics, the 2025 air show includes flight simulators and the opportunity to explore static aircrafts and military vehicles. On-ground entertainment includes interactive military exhibits, model aircrafts, exhibition stands and children’s activities.

Expected to attract visitors from Merseyside and beyond

Taking place on Saturday 30th and Sunday 31st August, the event is expected to attract thousands of visitors from Merseyside and beyond to experience one of the country’s favourite aviation displays. With the Irish Sea as its backdrop, the town’s shoreline will be the stage for high-flying shows, and historic jaw-dropping displays.

Cllr Paulette Lappin, Sefton Council’s cabinet member for regeneration, skills and employment said:

The Southport Air Show is one of the highlights of the year for aviation fans, families and visitors of all ages. I’d really encourage people to get their tickets now as demand is always sky-high.

The Air Show draws crowds from across the UK and beyond, and it’s easy to see why, with breathtaking aerial displays and a vibrant atmosphere along our stunning coastline, it’s an unforgettable experience.

There’s lots happening on the ground too, activities for children, interactive displays and plenty to keep everyone entertained. When the flying finishes, Southport’s town centre is just a short walk away, full of great places to eat, drink and relax.

Military and civilian displays

This year’s full line-up includes military displays from the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight’s, Lancaster, Hurricane and Spitfire, the Typhoon, the Tutor and the Falcons Parachute Display Team.

Civilian aircraft displays will feature Melanie Astles in the Extra 330, Richard Goodwin’s Jet Pitts, Team Raven, the Rolls Royce Spitfire XIX, the AeroSuperBatics Wingwalkers, The Starlings, Jet Provost, DH Vampire, L-39 Albatros, Navywings Swordfish, the Great War Display Team, the Strikemaster Pair and the Sea King.

Sefton Council confirmed the action won’t just be confined to the air above the shoreline, there’s plenty of activities to be enjoyed on the ground. Visitors can experience interactive exhibits, family activities and a range of food and drink offerings throughout the weekend, ‘making it a perfect day out for all ages’.

How do you get there?

For those travelling to the event, Northern Rail and Merseytravel run frequent trains to Southport. The nearest rail station is Southport, about a 10-minute walk from the event site.

Parking is also available and upon arriving in Southport you will be directed to the closest event car park. Visitors are asked to follow the event signage.

Tickets for the event can be booked online. General admission is free for under 16s, with tickets for those aged 16 and over, priced at £12. Discounts are available for groups of 10 or more.

For tickets and full details you should visit Southport Air Show Tickets | Sat 30th & Sun 31st August 2025, 10am.
